GLIOMATCH: Pioneering Precision Treatment for Brain Cancer

GLIOMATCH is a bold Horizon Europe project with a clear mission: to transform the way brain cancer is treated. Led by KU Leuven, the consortium brings together more than a dozen leading partners from ten EU member states, united by one goal—delivering hope through innovation.
In line with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, GLIOMATCH directly contributes to the EU Cancer Mission’s four pillars:

• Understanding cancer at its roots,

• Advancing prevention and early detection,

• Improving diagnosis and treatment, and

• Enhancing quality of life for patients and their families.

At the heart of the project is KU Leuven’s Laboratory for Precision Cancer Medicine, part of the Translational Cell and Tissue Research Unit within the Department of Imaging and Pathology, and closely linked to the Leuven Institute for Single-cell Omics. Their focus: matching the right treatment to the right patient, at the right time.
Brain tumours are among the deadliest forms of cancer—causing immense suffering, emotional strain, and a heavy toll on families, communities, and healthcare systems alike. By developing cutting-edge tools that enable clinicians to offer personalised therapies, GLIOMATCH strives to lift this burden and bring new hope to patients across Europe.
